NWS hosts SkyWarn training about severe weather and more

An opportunity to learn about meteorology and have some fun was in Minot Thursday night, thanks to the National Weather Service, hosted by John Paul Martin, a warning coordination meteorologist with the NWS. SkyWarn seminars are held about 20 times a year with the goal of teaching people everything they need to know about severe weather. Martin is sure to explain what people should, or shouldn’t do when severe weather like tornadoes or flash flooding comes around.

It’s a unique concept — a tourism attraction that takes up space on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border. But it exists right here in our state. The International Peace Garden is a symbol of peace between two countries and its landscape, botanicals and conservatory are quite peaceful to observe. “Conservation is a huge part of peace and vice versa,” the Peace Garden’s CEO, Tim Chapman said. Conservation efforts are hard to miss there.
