Ben Peters joined KRCG 13 in May of 2014 as a morning show producer, and quickly worked his way up the ladder in his short tenure.

Ben discovered his passion for journalism after transferring from Lincoln University to Missouri State in 2009, when he walked into an introduction to journalism course taught by Dr. Andrew R. Cline. What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job was working at Missouri State University's The Standard as a news reporter. I was paid 20 bucks per article.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

My parents had one that I used to play with when I was a child. I would put on glasses and pretend to be Clark Kent.

How is social media changing news?

News is released faster than ever. The problem is trying to get the news out first and doing it accurately. Today's demands make it harder.
