Tee-Cee Line for Jan. 15, 2024
Dear Tee Cee, With single-use plastic bags being banned across Colorado, do you have any suggestions for what to line my trash bins with? I used to reuse the bags I got for trash liners and to pick up my dog’s poop on our walks. I’m all for reducing plastics, that’s why I don’t want to purchase plastic bags just to throw them away. Thanks, Ben Dear Ben, For those catching up with Ben here, as of Jan.
Scott Rochat: Rochat, Can You See? Using your head
I’ve been a baseball fan for years. But somehow, I had never seen the Canseco Bounce. If you just said “Huh?”, you owe it to yourself to start the New Year right. Go to YouTube. Look up the words Canseco, Ball and Head. And don’t drink anything while you’re watching. What you’ll see is a 1993 clip of outfielder Jose Canseco going back for a fly ball in deep right field … a fly ball that hits him on top of the head and bounces OVER the wall for a home run.
Tee-Cee's Tip for Monday, Jan. 8
Dear Tee Cee, I’m trying to get ahead on my taxes and have generated a lot of printed documents that I need to get rid of. I’m a little hesitant to put them in my curbside recycling bin because there’s personal information on them. Should I buy a shredder and then recycle them, or are there other options. —Tyson Dear Tyson, The best environmental option for recycling paper is to avoid shredding it if possible.

Beth Potter on brink of Olympic dream after embracing ‘bonkers’ triathlon switch
Whether she qualifies this weekend or not, there seems little doubt Potter will be part of the British line-up next summer, joining a notable list of athletes who have competed at the Olympics in two different sports. It was after using her summer holidays from her day job as a physics teacher to race in the 10,000 metres in Rio in 2016 that Potter decided to throw her eggs in the triathlon basket. “I think I probably had doubts until last year,” she told the PA news agency. “It’s been really hard.
Why Congress Must Provide Long-term Support for Customs Preclearance
Discussions about the important work of U.S. Customs and Border Protection are often linked with the southern border and the resources dedicated to its management, but the agency’s preclearance work at the northern border between the United States and Canada — the longest international land border in the world — needs attention, too. The northern border receives just a fraction of CBP’s budget to secure and facilitate trade and travel across its vast span.
