Prevalence and types of pet-inclusive shelter services for unhoused survivors of intimate partner violence

Abstract In 2018, the Agricultural Improvement Act section 12502 Protecting Animals with Shelter (PAWS) became law in the United States with a goal of reducing barriers to shelter for unhoused survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) with pets. The purpose of this study was to describe the nature and extent of pet inclusive IPV shelter programming prior to the widespread implementation of PAWS to document a baseline from which to assess program growth in the post PAWS era.

Summer learning winds down, fall programming gets started at the library

Summer is winding down and so, too, is the library’s Summer Learning Program with its theme “Reading Colors Your World.” The library website is full of congratulatory messages for the prizewinners, including Amber, Ellie and Charlotte who won prizes sponsored by the Friends of the Princeton Library. Although this summer’s programming wrapped up in August, many children’s programs begin this fall, providing a number of creative activities that promote reading.

Library summer learning program makes me wish I was a kid

“Gee, I wish I was a kid,” I exclaimed when the library staff showed me the plans for the library’s Summer Learning Program this year. I was quickly assured that many of the program’s activities are appropriate and available to teens and adults as well as younger children. Designed around the theme, “Reading Colors Your World,” the program runs from June 1 – August 14th and includes eleven weeks of fun activities such as a scavenger hunt, story walks, chalk art, coloring rocks and a photo contest.
