We did Memorial Day weekend at the pulsing heart of our nation’s highest governing body, Washington, District of Columbia. Full disclosure, we were actually at the left ventricle in Silver Spring, Maryland. That’s where son, D-I-L and two grandsons reside. He’s a tech help desker. She makes government accountable. The teens go in their rooms and close their doors. Over our five days we got down to the Mall on one day to do the textile museum on the campus of George Washington University.

The Humble Dogwood Tree

It’s always a gamble. Many months in advance of their Dogwood Festival the good leaders of Orleans, Indiana set the date for their annual celebration for the arrival of spring. The opening gambit is the all-town yard sales that bring folks from at least three, maybe more, counties to do their sailing from one street to another. They slowly drive along one hand on the wheel both eyes on the offerings scattered in yards and driveways.
