A UF expert says alkaline water offers no proven hydration advantage, and moderate caffeine consumption does not typically cause dehydration. Pre-hydrating before exercise or prolonged heat exposure can help prevent dehydration, improve performance and reduce heat-related risks. As summer approaches, the heat may push you to drink anything cold and refreshing.
