Area team set for 7-on-7 state tournament - Longview News-Journal

Multiple area teams will head to College Station this weekend for the Texas 7-on-7 State Championships. Tyler Legacy and Tyler High will compete in Division 1, and Chapel Hill and Lindale will compete in Division 2. West Rusk, Daingerfield and Jefferson will all compete in Division 3. The event is Thursday through Saturday at the Veterans Park and Athletic Complex. Legacy is in Pool H with Coppell, Edinburg Economedes and Grand Oaks.

HOUSTON – Netherlands got a much-needed three points on Saturday with a dominant 5-1 win over Sweden in the second round of Group F action of the FIFA World Cup inside “Houston Stadium” – better known as NRG Stadium. After playing to a 2-2 draw with Japan on Sunday in Arlington – in a match that was 0-0 at halftime – Netherlands came out firing early against Sweden. Netherlands scored two goals in the first 17 minutes – both by Brian Brobbey – to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead.
