Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I was required to take typing in high school.

When's the best time to pitch you?

After 10am and before 5pm by email. Phone calls are for paid consulting upon request

What's the best pitch you ever got?

In November I had the opportunity to stay in the area and was fortunate enough to visit Thomas T Thomas , Anderson Valley's only Black winemaker. That long driveway entrance was almost too easy to miss if you don't know to look for the street that says "Jack's". What I didn't miss was on Thomas' steep mountain the rows of vines that make his small batch wine. Driving up the hill reminded me of the climb that many people make to live out their dreams. This vineyard is Thomas'. With a background in tech, he bought 26 acres of land inspired by a trip to Burgundy. It took over a decade but the vintner began to sell his own brand with labels he designed from his own art work in 2018. In a conversation I had during his visit, he said the women in his family were part of that inspiration, especially his grandmother. The story that I'm writing is about Thomas' vineyard, the lesson he learned from his grandmother that he carries with him daily and how he used his knowledge in tech to go from selling grapes to for small batch to building his own name in the wine industry, particularly in Anderson Valley where he is the only Black winemaker.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Now that the sun is out it's the perfect time for Heroic Italian's Wednesday night Wine and Dine. While sitting on the patio, we can hear a guitarist or vocalist while noshing on an Antipesto board or pasta pomodoro. The owner David Bullet told me the started about a year ago music series happens weekly.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At a coffee shop, with my computer.
