Poslední smrtelné pouto - Brian Staveley
O knize Poslední smrtelné pouto Kronika Netesaného trůnu vrcholí třetím a posledním románem.

Read an Excerpt From Brian Staveley’s The Empire’s Ruin
Deep within the southern reaches of the empire an ancient god-like race has begun to stir… We’re thrilled to share an excerpt from The Empire’s Ruin, the first book in a new epic fantasy trilogy from Brian Staveley, based in the world of his popular series the Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne. The Empire’s Ruin is available now from Tor Books. The Annurian Empire is disintegrating. The advantages it used for millennia have fallen to ruin.
Inhibition of Ref(2)P , the Drosophila homologue of the p62/SQSTM1 gene, increases lifespan and leads to a decline in motor function
Abstract Objective Sequestosome 1 (p62/SQSTM1) is a multifunctional scaffold/adaptor protein encoded by the p62/SQSTM1 gene with function in cellular homeostasis. Mutations in the p62/SQSTM1 gene have been known to be associated with patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Parkinson disease (PD).

Adare ucieka z Pałacu Brzasku, aby stawić czoło spiskowi wymierzonemu w jej rodzinę. Czaszkowiercy
Brian Staveley powraca do świata nagradzanego cyklu „Kronika Nieciosanego Tronu” Świetny prequel, w którym towarzyszymy intrygującej bohaterce «Kroniki Nieciosanego Tronu».
John Milton
John Milton’s career as a writer of prose and poetry spans three distinct eras: Stuart England; the Civil War (1642-1648) and Interregnum, including the Commonwealth (1649-1653) and Protectorate (1654-1660); and the Restoration. Milton’s chief polemical prose was written in the decades of the 1640s and 1650s, during the strife between the Church of England and various reformist groups such as the Puritans and between the monarch and Parliament.
The Emperor's Blades
In The Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley, the emperor of Annur is dead, slain by enemies unknown. His daughter and two sons, scattered across the world, do what they must to stay alive and unmask the assassins. But each of them also has a life-path on which their father set them, destinies entangled with both ancient enemies and inscrutable gods.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Samuel Taylor Coleridge is the premier poet-critic of modern English tradition, distinguished for the scope and influence of his thinking about literature as much as for his innovative verse. Active in the wake of the French Revolution as a dissenting pamphleteer and lay preacher, he inspired a brilliant generation of writers and attracted the patronage of progressive men of the rising middle class.
King Lear and the Syntax of Insanity
King Lear and the Fool in the Storm, painting by William Dyce c.1851 Maybe it’s because I have this facial recognition problem that makes it tough for me to tell the difference between Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, but I don’t think fictional character is a question of faces. Or bodies. Or clothes. Or even actions, actually. Those things are important, but I’ve become pretty convinced that the hot beating heart of character is language.
Revealing the Cover of Skullsworn, Set in the World of The Emperor’s Blades
I’m struck, sometimes, by all the ways in which writing a book is nothing like playing hockey. I was never very good at hockey, but I liked it, and played through the start of high school. Hockey, of course, is a team sport. This means that individual players can leave the ice and the game will keep going. Not only that, but your team can score goals without you doing a damn thing.
Algebra for Fantasy Writers
There are days—horrible, dark days—when I end up doing more algebra than writing. You remember those word problems from high school? If Valyn is flying west on a Kettral, covering 300 miles a day, and Ran il Tornja is riding north-east on horseback, covering 100 miles a day, and Gwenna is running due south, covering 50 miles a day, will they all actually meet where they need to meet at the end of the damn book, or will you need to rewrite the whole ass end of the thing? You idiot.
Skullsworn author Brian Staveley on sex in fantasy and getting it right
Every so often, I’ll have a conversation that goes something like this: Person at Party: What kind of stuff do you write? At this point, it’s usually clear to me that we have a misunderstanding, that they are, in fact, thinking that I write about sexual fantasies. I used to correct them. Not any more. Now I’m all: Me: Oh, you know, lots of knives and swords. PaP (possibly taken back, possibly even more intrigued, lowering their voice to a whisper): Like, really kinky stuff, eh?
10 Things I'd Like My Readers To Know About Me By Brian Staveley
Let’s start with what is clearly my most humiliating flaw: I DON’T REALLY LIKE LIVE MUSIC. I realize this places me on the Scale of Excellence somewhere between mud and protozoa. I love music—my newest book, Skullsworn, is filled with it—but I despise lines, crowds, and waiting a long time for beer, all of which seem to be features of live music venues. Lest you think I’m a total monster, I CRY IN MOVIES. And I’m not just talking about really emotional movies.
Herbert Sucks. Donne is a Pimp. by Brian Staveley
In a recent issue of Poetry magazine, Kay Ryan mused, “Who can read [Gerard Manley] Hopkins’s ‘The Windhover’ and not feel welling up inside a kind of giddiness indistinguishable from the impulse to laugh?” Well, every single one of my 11th-grade poetry students, for starters. “I don’t have the slightest urge to laugh when I read anything by Hopkins,” says Becca. “And why does she keep saying we and us?” Her comment is not unique.
Village of the Dead: Five Ways of Reading An American Cemetery
"All Saints Day in New Orleans" wood engraving by John Durkin (1885) The big literary book of the season, it seems, is the much-acclaimed Lincoln on the Bardo, by the much-acclaimed literary SF-nalist George Saunders. In this text, all of the action happens among the dead that accumulate around the cemetery where they are buried.
Skullsworn: Chapter 2
Pyrre Lakatur is not, to her mind, an assassin, not a murderer—she is a priestess. At least, she will be once she passes her final trial. The problem isn’t the killing. The problem, rather, is love. For to complete her trial, Pyrre has ten days to kill the seven people enumerated in an ancient song, including “the one who made your mind and body sing with love / who will not come again.” Pyrre isn’t sure she’s ever been in love.
