De Soto neighbors take aim at massive data center developments during city council meeting

A growing debate over data centers in De Soto drew a large crowd to Thursday night's city council meeting as residents voiced opposition to two proposed developments.Many residents came hoping to stop a project already under consideration, only to learn a second company is exploring plans for an even larger data center in the area.The proposals involve two different companies and two separate large-scale developments. More than a dozen residents spoke against the projects during public comments.

Crowds of Kesha fans show out for first night at Morton Amphitheater

Morton Amphitheater hosted its first-ever concert Wednesday, welcoming crowds of fans to see Kesha at the brand-new venue in Riverside, Missouri."It's awesome," said Annie Hartley, who attended the show Wednesday. "I've been waiting for it and ... I was like, I have to go. I have to get tickets." The new Morton Amphitheater has 30 shows scheduled so far, ranging from rock to country to hip hop.

Jackson County lawmakers propose pause on data centers, battery storage projects

Jackson County lawmakers are considering hitting the pause button on new data center and battery storage projects.County leaders say the move isn't meant to stop development. Instead, they want time to create rules for projects that currently have few countywide standards."Residents say there's no rules about these things," Jackson County Legislature Vice Chair Sean Smith said.
