Like death itself, this was no joke. A grave-digging contest in a Hungarian cemetery may sound like the opening line of a comedy sketch. It proved to be anything but, as 38 competitors grabbed picks and shovels on Saturday. The Hungarian Association of Cemetery Maintainers and Operators organizes the contest to showcase the grave-digging trade and its skills, and shake off death-related taboos.

A fire in Congo's capital leaves at least 22 dead
A fire at a wedding party in Congo's capital Kinshasa, left at least 22 people dead, the regional mayor said Saturday. Several others were injured. The building's narrow hallways were constricted by people trying to escape the fire.

Because of his health issues, he, his wife, and his six kids rely on one income. Due to last year's passage of the federal "Big Beautiful Bill," his status as a refugee means he (and many other immigrants, including asylees) now can't access SNAP benefits.
Good Samaritans credited with saving couple's lives after lightning strike
A private school community is showing support for a husband and wife who were injured by a lightning strike in Florida on Wednesday night. Aaron and Clare Walenga work at the Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, Florida, where their three children are students. The Foundation Academy president told Hearst sister station WESH that the couple is on their road to recovery thanks to the three good Samaritans who stopped to help them on a hiking trail.
