Fallen Colorado firefighter honored after 27 years of service

Friends, family and fellow firefighters lined the streets in the Denver metro area on Thursday for a funeral procession to honor the life of fallen firefighter Lieutenant Chad Tellinger. The North Metro Fire District firefighter passed away on May 20 from an illness after serving with the department for 27 years. The service at the New Life Church in Brighton was private to family and anyone close to Tellinger.

Denver Pride expects more than 500,000 people, free festival moved from two days to one

It is June 1, which is the start of Pride Month. Pride started in June 1969 from the Stonewall Riots when patrons of a gay bar in Greenwich Village fought back against a violent, discriminatory police raid. Now, Denver is one of several cities across the country with celebrations all month long, this year being the 52nd. There are many changes with Denver Pride this year. The free celebrations will be moved from Civic Center Park to 16th Street.

Denver replaces 30-year-old RTD railing system on Colfax stretch near Auraria Campus

The next phase of the Regional Transportation District's Downtown Rail Reconstruction project is set to begin in June. Denver is replacing the 30-year-old RTD railing system on Colfax Avenue stretch near the Auraria Campus. This project is broken into three segments. This includes: Segment 1: The Downtown Loop. Working on the mid blocks. This will be around Stout, then 19th, over to California. Project starts June 7 and ends in the first quarter of 2027. Segment 2: The Rail Corridor.
