CINCINNATI (WXIX) - First Alert Weather Days will continue Friday and through the first part of Saturday. Shower and storms increase in coverage and intensity as a cold front approaches the Tri-State. The first wave of storms moves in overnight and may impact the morning commute Friday. Expect some dry time during the day Friday with temps in the low 80s, but another wave of storms is likely by Friday evening and will last through early Saturday.
Eugenio Suárez was out on the field early in the afternoon on Thursday for extra batting practice. He took swing after swing after swing against velocity. He was hitting foam balls, which is a drill that the Reds have been doing all season to help hitters who have struggled against pitches 95 mph+. BATAVIA, Ohio (WXIX) - One person is dead and another was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Clermont County Thursday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash happened just after 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of US Route 50 in Batavia. Troopers said that one person died at the scene and another was rushed to the hospital in an unknown condition.
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Chris Wagner granted a preliminary injunction Thursday for more than a dozen college basketball players suing the NCAA. The players are suing the NCAA over its age-based eligibility rule change as they seek a fifth year of eligibility. The injunction blocks the NCAA from enforcing the new rules. As a result, some Division I athletes who graduated high school in 2022 could now be allowed to play a fifth year.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF/Gray News) - Officials announced the suspension of eight Apache helicopter pilots who flew in this year’s Salute from the Shore event over the July Fourth weekend. According to the South Carolina Army National Guard, the pilots’ suspension stems from an investigation into events from that day, but it could not share further details about an open investigation.
