By Bridget Murphy, ABC News NSW Police Homicide Squad detectives have announced a A$1 million (NZ$1.22m) reward for information relating to the unsolved murders of two women in Newcastle in 2000. The bodies of 37-year-old Joanne Teterin and 32-year-old Susan Kay were found by police at a home on Doran Street, Carrington, on Wednesday, 12 May, 2000. Investigators at the time concluded the women were last seen alive on Thursday, 11 May, before being found, allegedly bludgeoned to death.

Retired anti-whaling vessel MV Steve Irwin sets sail for conservation comeback

The MV Steve Irwin spent more than a decade defending the world's oceans. After more than seven years out of action, the former Sea Shepherd ship has been restored to its former glory and will return to marine conservation as Ship4Good. Kerrie Goodall bought the ship for just $10. (ABC Newcastle: Bridget Murphy) The flagship anti-whaling vessel was retired in 2019, bound for a junkyard in Hong Kong. "It was going to be scrapped," Ship4Good founder and skipper Kerrie Goodall said.
