Hey, y'all! I am a South Carolina-based journalist whose priorities are in providing a platform for marginalized voices to be heard.
I am currently the editor-in-chief of The Johnsonian, a 98-year-old student newspaper at Winthrop University. I am on track to receive my undergraduate degree in English from Winthrop in May 2022. I excel in my studies and I am proud to hold a 3.8 GPA and be a part of the Honors College.
I also hold another editing-related job on campus on top of my work at The Johnsonian. I am a tutor at the Writing Center. I tutor critical writing, media writing, and creative writing.
I was granted the Hubert Osteen Memorial Scholarship and Internship at The Sumter Item during the summer of 2021 by the South Carolina Press Association. I am also the recipient of The Johnsonian Staff of 1970 Scholarship intended for English majors who excel in the journalism field.
I have had over 50 stories published in The Johnsonian and over 20 stories published in The Sumter Item. I have skills in reporting, editing, layout, photography and managerial duties.
I endeavor to continue my journalism career after graduation first in the Carolinas then in the New England area at a small, local newspaper. My passion is in feature writing as well as investigative journalism.
As a journalist, I prioritize holding those in power accountable in order to improve the quality of life for those living within my newspaper's reach.
I am a proud pet-mom of a sweet pitbull named Maple and a troublemaking cat named BB. I am an avid reader and I am passionate about caring for and honoring the environment.
