Hey, y'all! I am a South Carolina-based journalist whose priorities are in providing a platform for marginalized voices to be heard.

I am currently the editor-in-chief of The Johnsonian, a 98-year-old student newspaper at Winthrop University. I am on track to receive my undergraduate degree in English from Winthrop in May 2022. I excel in my studies and I am proud to hold a 3.8 GPA and be a part of the Honors College.

PELION — Daniel Shumpert, a council member in this rural Midlands town, gave the police chief a $500 gift card in 2023 to the family’s grocery store. The chief later described the move in a sworn affidavit as “a quid pro quo for turning a blind eye” to what he described as “improper activities” by Shumpert family members who ran the town. John Rebolj, the former chief, said in the affidavit that he was so uncomfortable with Shumpert's gift card that he logged it as evidence.
