Oregon's 2025 signing class features 10 of the program's best 100 signees
Oregon's 20-player signing class finished second in the Big 10 and fifth nationally in 2025. The class itself narrowly finished with a lesser class score from the 2024 class, with 2025 finishing at 223.19 and 2024 at 223.20. However, this class is pound-for-pound better. In fact, it packs a punch few classes have, as it's only the second of the 247Sports era to feature blue-chip recruits exclusively. All 20 Duck signees were four or five-star prospects.
Reviewing Oregon's all-time receiving leaderboards following the 2024 season
Troy Franklin has made a case for himself to be the best wide receiver in program history. His 2023 season is undoubtedly the best ever, as he broke all major school records (although one fell to teammate Tez Johnson shortly after). Johnson made the most of his two years with the Ducks. Had he not suffered an injury, he would likely own a few career records along with his single-season mark for most catches.
Reviewing Oregon's all-time rushing leaderboards following the 2024 season
Oregon has had some fantastic running backs in its school history. For years, the Ducks have had at least one 1,000 yard runner each season. Who is the best of all? Well, it's hard not to select the school's lone Doak Walker winner (LaMichael James), but because James only played three seasons, the school's all-time career leaderboard doesn't completely favor him. Royce Freeman surpassed several of James records, and former teammate Kenjon Barner is near him on other lists.
The best recruits Oregon has ever landed by position
Oregon's 2024 season isn't over yet. The Ducks could play up to three more games en route to a national championship. The school's 2025 signing class may not be complete yet, but the Ducks are done in the early window. Because of that, this feels the opportune time to take stock in what this class means not just for the future, but for the school's recruiting history.
These Ducks could find themselves on the school's single-season or career lists by the end of 2024

Remembering all of Oregon's 1,000 yard individual receiving seasons
Stats (11 games played): 67 receptions for 1,123 yards (16.8 ypc) and 7 TDs Explanation: The first 1,000 yard season in program history came a quarter century before the second. In fact, Newland's 1,123 yards held up as the most by a Duck in a season for nearly 50 years before Josh Huff slid ahead to top the list in 2013. Newland appeared in fewer games (11) than any on this list.
The best recruits Oregon has ever landed by position
Oregon's 2024 roster is close to finalized. The finishing touches have been put on over the past few weeks with a final wave of portal additions. It seems like the right time to see how this roster stacks up, and to revisit Oregon's top signees per position. Using the all-time commitment tool on 247Sports I've run through the 10 best recruits at each position since the advent of internet recruiting rankings in 2002.
Oregon's 2024 signing class features 11 of the program's best 100 signees
Oregon's 2024 recruiting class is unmatched from a recruiting ranking perspective. The 29-player signing class finished tops in the Big 10 and third nationally. No Duck class has finished closer to the top of the national rankings, and the class score (293.22) is far and away the best too. Adding more ammunition to the class's unparalleled standing is its high number of blue-chip prospects. More than half of the signees are four or five-star recruits.

The 2023 season was undoubtedly the best passing season the program has ever had and it includes two of the best individual receiving seasons too. Franklin and Johnson each now sit at or near the top of every major single-season record.
How the 2023 Ducks stack up statistically compared to other special Oregon seasons
Friday's 31-7 win over Oregon State keeps everything on the table for these Ducks. It earned them a spot in next week's Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas and a win over the Huskies there would likely send them to the College Football for the second time in program-history. The win was also their 11th of the season, placing them in rarified air amongst Oregon teams. Prior to this season, only three Duck teams had ever completed the 12-game regular season with 11 or more wins.

Reviewing Oregon's all-time receiving leaderboards
Oregon has had some fantastic wide receiver in its school history. It might not be the stockpile of talent like they've enjoyed at quarterback and running back, but it's not bad either. Who is the best of all? Unlike quarterback and running back where you can point to Marcus Mariota and LaMichael James as near-unanimous choices, the receiver position lacks that definitive alpha.

Seven days before kicking off in Philadelphia, the Redskins are claiming an ex-Eagle
On their initial 53-man roster, the Redskins surprised most by keeping five running backs. Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson were joined on Saturday's initial list by Byron Marshall and Shaun Wilson, the last of whom is heading to IR but could return later on this year. Turns out that crowded backfield is reportedly adding another member, too. On Sunday, the Redskins claimed ex-Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood. Field Yates first reported the move.
Washington claims Wendell Smallwood off waivers
Wendell Smallwood is still in the NFC East. Via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the former Eagles running back was claimed off waivers by Washington. The former fifth-round pick was never able to stand out in a crowded Eagles backfield, but Washington was fairly full there also. They kept Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, and Chris Thompson, along with return man Byron Marshall.
4 Redskins players with roster spot on the line in preseason finale
Two years ago, in the middle of a tropical storm on a soggy field with maybe 2,000 people in attendance in Tampa, Josh Harvey-Clemons clawed his way to a final roster spot in the Redskins fourth and final preseason game. He grabbed an interception near the goal line and ran it back the other way, showing that his football instincts could help Washington. Last year, at FedEx Field, Cam Sims dropped an easy catch early only to come back late and make a ridiculous grab for a touchdown.
Skins Stats & Snaps: Bengals @ Redskins (Defense/ST)
© Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports Redskins Starter Snaps- All but one of the team’s starting defenders played on Thursday night (Shaun Dion Hamilton). The vast majority of the unit was on the field for 18 snaps and three drives. The first stringers did not give up any points, only allowed 40 yards of offense and scored a touchdown on a 96-yard interception return. They also held the Bengals to just 2 first downs, both of which came via penalties.
Stock Up, Stock Down: Montae Nicholson and Samaje Perine going in opposite directions
The Redskins lost to the Bengals Thursday night at FedEx Field, but in the preseason, final results don't really matter. What matters comes in individual and group performances, particularly among first-team units. In that vein, the Redskins starting defense looked strong against Cincinnati. Outside of some dumb and wacky penalty calls, the starting defense barely gave up any first downs. A number of players impressed on that group, so let's start with the stocks trending in the right direction.
Training camp battles: How will the 1-2 punch work with Peterson and Guice?
For the Redskins offense to be successful in 2019, head coach Jay Gruden has reiterated the same thing throughout the offseason: it starts with establishing a solid ground game. The running back unit may be the deepest position group on the Redskins' offense. The Burgundy and Gold re-signed veteran Adrian Peterson this past offseason after the 34-year-old eclipsed 1,000 yards with the team a season ago.
Training camp notes: The offense's turnovers are the story on Day 9
RICHMOND - The offense had a good amount of memorable plays on Sunday at Redskins training camp. They were just memorable for the wrong reasons. With Alex Smith not in the picture for this year, you can assume that the unit will have more turnovers in 2019 than it did in 2018. These past few practices, however, are starting to show that the turnover number may be much larger than it was a season ago. That'll be the first bullet point of Day 9's report, with more to follow.
Redskins QB Situation: An even day for McCoy, Keenum and Haskins as the battle heats up
As the Redskins have an honest-to-goodness quarterback battle raging at training camp, each day of practice there will be an updated post on what passer won the day. RICHMOND -- Ask three different people which quarterback played best during Wednesday's morning practice session and there would be three different answers. Like the deep ball? Hard to ignore a beautiful pass from rookie Dwayne Haskins down the sideline to running back Byron Marshall. Only problem was Marshall dropped it.

Washington designates wide receiver Trey Quinn to return from injured reserve
Wide receiver Trey Quinn returned to practice on Thursday as he was designated to return off injured reserve for the Washington Redskins. The Mr. Irrelevant of the 2018 NFL Draft, Quinn was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 12 after injuring his right ankle in the team’s season opener against the Arizona Cardinals.
Washington designates running back Byron Marshall to return from injured reserve
Washington Redskins running back Byron Marshall returned practice on Wednesday as the team designated Marshall as one of their two players eligible to return off injured reserve this season. Marshall was placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season after injuring his ankle during the preseason in mid-August. While initially reported as a 2-4 week injury, Marshall still landed on IR to begin the year as the team signed Adrian Peterson to bolster their rushing attack.
Full accountability: Looking back at 53-man roster predictions
The Redskins released their 53-man roster on Saturday, and while the collection of players had a few surprises, generally the team did what was expected. In the hunt for true accountability, here is my 53 man roster prediction compared to what actually happened. Quarterback - 2 - Alex Smith, Colt McCoy Prediction - Nailed this. Was pretty obvious so no celebration here. Running back - 4 - Adrian Peterson, Rob Kelley, Samaje Perine, Chris Thompson Prediction - Nailed this too.

NFC East Notes: Eagles, Foles, Redskins
August 17th, 2018 at 2:39pm CST by Zach Links Here’s a look at the NFC East: No reason to panic just yet, but the Eagles announced that quarterback Nick Foles suffered a shoulder strain in Thursday night’s preseason contest. Foles personally says that he’s not overly concerned about the injury, but he also speculate on his status for Week 1. If Foles needs time to recover, that could put the Eagles in a bad spot since Carson Wentz‘s status for the opener is also up in the air.
Derrius Guice’s injury doesn’t have to be end for Redskins as Alex Smith has seen this before
In 2015, the Kansas City Chiefs were absolute trash for five of their first six games of the season. No one remembers any of this now, especially given the winning the Chiefs have done over the past three seasons, but I know it’s true because I was there. It’s a badge of honor, in a way, since there weren’t many reporters who can say the same. At the time, Kansas City’s baseball team, the Royals, were hot and smack-dab in the playoffs, marching toward their first World Series title since 1985.
Redskins vs. Patriots Preseason Week 1: Date, time, TV channel, live stream, how to watch
The Redskins' 2018 NFL preseason schedule gets started Thursday night at Gillette Stadium when Bill Belichick and the Patriots welcome the 'Skins to Foxborough, Mass. Week 1 of the NFL preseason doesn't provide a lot of answers to questions about team performance, but it begin to reveal the rank and order at many of the different positions. One of the key position battles that we'll have to keep an eye on throughout the preseason, will be at running back.
Redskins waive running back LeShun Daniels
Daniels appeared in four games last season for Washington and gained 14 yards on three carries. He was placed on injured reserve in December due to a fractured hand. Daniels was an undrafted free agent signing out of the University of Iowa last year. He spent the offseason with the New England Patriots before being released at the end of training camp. After a short stint on the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers, Daniels signed with Washington’s practice squad in November.

Redskins put tight end Jordan Reed on injured reserve
FILE - In this Oct. 29, 2017, file photo, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed reaches for his headphones during warm ups before an NFL football game against the Dallas Cowboys in Landover, Md. Reed is going through the most difficult time of his life as he endures another injury-plagued season. Arguably the Redskins' most effective playmaker, Reed is in danger of missing his sixth consecutive game with a strained hamstring.
Redskins send Jordan Reed to IR, ending disappointing season
The Washington Redskins are putting an end to tight end Jordan Reed's 2017 season, placing the veteran on injured reserve with a hamstring injury on Tuesday. Two seasons removed from his 952-yard, 11-touchdown performance, the 2016 Pro Bowler caught just 27 passes for 211 yards with two scores in six games this year, before being forced to miss every contest since Week 8. Reed dealt with the hamstring issue in training camp and was not able to shake the injury this season.
Washington puts three on IR, including Jordan Reed
Washington decided to put an end to the weekly question about Jordan Reed‘s health. The oft-injured tight end was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, along with running back Byron Marshall, and linebacker Chris Carter. Reed was limited to just 27 catches for 211 yards this season, as he dealt with a toe injury early and a hamstring problem late. His absence has been a big factor for a slumping offense this season, for a team that underperformed.
Redskins Place Jordan Reed On IR
The Washington Redskins announced on Tuesday that the franchise has placed tight end Jordan Reed, running back Byron Marshall and linebacker Chris Carter on injured reserve. With roster spots open, the Redskins signed running back Kapri Bibbs and linebackers Otha Peters and Pete Robinson from the practice squad. Reed’s dealt with a string of injuries over the years and was activated in time for the regular season.
Week 14: Deep Sleepers and DFS Bargains
It’s time for a TGIF edition of Deep Sleepers and DFS Bargains. I made good on one of my picks last week. Dede Westbrook finished the week a top-thirty play in Week 13. Let’s try to improve on that this go-around. To review… all of these players are owned in less than sixty percent of Yahoo leagues (at time of writing) and/or are a significant value in our daily game.

Janoris Jenkins pick-six of Kirk Cousins ties game again
The New York Giants’ offense hasn’t been able to find the end zone yet tonight, but a big interception by Janoris Jenkins allowed them to draw even once again with the Washington Redskins late in the third quarter. Kirk Cousins‘ pass for running back Byron Marshall deflected through Marshall’s hands and was intercepted by Jenkins, who made Cousins and other Washington defenders miss en route to a 53-yard touchdown to tie the game at 10-10.

Funston’s Fantasy Football Rankings: 2017 Week 12
Fantasy football expert Brandon Funston provides his weekly insight and rankings of the best players to help you win big. Quarterbacks Seattle’s Russell Wilson is on a career-best fantasy pace, thanks to six top-five fantasy quarterback finishes in his past eight games. Facing a San Francisco defense that has allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position, Wilson is positioned for another top-shelf effort – he’s the top fantasy quarterback play for Week 12.
Week 12 Rankings
Tied for fourth in yardage (786), Brandin Cooks has quietly shed his “boom/bust” label. He’s posted at least five catches in five of his past six games. The last time he tallied fewer than four was Week 4. He has scored twice over his past four appearances, and is averaging what would be a career-best 17.5 yards per grab. The Raiders — whom Cooks dropped 6/149/1 on last Sunday — were about as good as it gets for a matchup, but Week 12 opponent Miami isn’t far behind.

Cleveland Browns linebacker Deon King signs from practice squad
Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Practice squad linebacker Deon King has signed to the Cleveland Browns' active roster. Cleveland announced the move on Wednesday. The Browns also signed running back Josh Rounds to the practice squad. King appeared in four games for the Browns this season and spent five weeks with the practice squad. The 6-foot, 220-pound defender entered the NFL in 2016 as an undrafted free agent signing by the Dallas Cowboys.
Tennessee Titans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Prediction, preview, pick to win
SERIES HISTORY: 74th regular-season meeting. Steelers lead series, 42-31. The Steelers won four of the past six, including the most recent in 2014, 27-24 in Nashville. The Titans snapped a three-game losing streak at Heinz Field in 2013, 16-9, in the season opener. These two franchises met four times in the playoffs. The Steelers beat the old Houston Oilers in AFC championship games following the 1978 and 1979 seasons en route to Super Bowl XIII and XIV titles.
Need to Know: Drew Brees' success against the Redskins has been limited
Here is what you need to know on this Wednesday, November 14, four days before the Washington Redskins play the New Orleans Saints at Mercedes Benz Superdome. Today's schedule: Practice 1 p.m.; Jay Gruden and Kirk Cousins news conferences and open locker room after practice, approx. 3 p.m. As expected, the Redskins made some roster moves, cutting defensive lineman Brandon Banks and putting LB Will Compton and RB Rob Kelley on injured reserve.
Daily Dose: Jay Day - Football Daily Dose
The National Football League has 10 weeks in the books, and the fantasy regular season is winding down. In many standard head-to-head leagues there are just three games remaining until the playoffs start. If you're still reading fantasy columns on a regular basis, you're still alive for your championship. Good luck getting this far.
