Gabby Whalen, Evan Fuller win Stark County High School Athlete of the Week vote

Athletes from Jackson and Hoover high schools won the voting for the Stark County High School Athlete of the Week for June 1-7. Gabby Whalen of Jackson is the girls winner and Evan Fuller of Hoover wins for the boys. Whalen, who competes in track, received 53.33% of the votes cast. Fuller, a baseball player, received 74.95% of the votes cast. A total of 1,253 votes were cast overall. Look for more on each athlete below.

Ohio high school baseball scores, OHSAA state tournament results Original

Games are being played in Akron and Canton. The 98th annual Ohio High School Athletic Association baseball state tournament begins today. The OHSAA state tournament is scheduled to run through Sunday, June 14. Stark County will be represented by two teams — North Canton Hoover in Division II and Lake Center Christian in Division VI. Lake Center was the state runner-up a year ago, while Hoover is in its first state final four trip since 1999.

See when, where Hoover and Lake Center will play their games. Here's a look at this week's schedule, by day, for the Ohio High School Athletic Association baseball state tournament. State semifinals will be play 7 17 Credit Union Park (formerly Canal Park) in Akron and Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton. All state finals are scheduled for Akron. The 98th annual baseball state tournament is scheduled to run June 11-14, featuring play in seven divisions.
