Lewis Hamilton supports protesters who tore down slave trader's statue
Hamilton, 35, has actively supported the Black Lives Matter movement, calling out his own sport's initial silence over the killing of Floyd, who died after a white US police officer knelt on his neck last month. Formula One managing director Ross Brawn has backed Hamilton's comments on racial injustice and said the sport was working towards improving diversity at every level. "Lewis is a great ambassador for the sport and his comments are very valid," Brawn told Sky Sports' The F1 Show.
Ecclestone on the hunt for buyer for 'historic' Williams team
Former Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone is trying to find a buyer for the once-mighty Williams team, saying it would be "a terrible thing to lose" the name from the grid. Williams' golden age in the 1980s and 1990s under founder Frank is a distant memory. In those years Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost were among a clutch of world champions. But the last of both their nine constructors' titles and seven drivers' crowns came in 1997.

The announcement is a major shift for a proudly British company co-founded by Frank Williams, Claire's father, and that won a string of world championships during a period of dominance in the 1980s and 90s. The team have won 114 races to date but have been last for the past two years.

F1 could manage to race even with Covid-19 cases, says FIA
Formula One could cope with up to 10 positive tests for Covid-19 when the sport starts the season in July, according to the chair of the governing FIA's medical commission. Prof Gerard Saillant told Sky Sports television the sport would still need a “red line”, however, beyond which racing could not continue. The planned March 15 season-opener in Australia was cancelled after a McLaren team employee tested positive.
F1 teams Williams, Racing Point furlough staff as drivers take pay cut
Williams and Racing Point became the latest Formula One teams to furlough staff due to the coronavirus as their drivers also agreed to take pay cuts on Monday. Hamilton waiting on Wolff ahead of 2021 contract talks
Lewis Hamilton intends to stay in Formula One beyond 2020, but said on Thursday he wanted to know Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff's personal plans before agreeing to a new deal. The six times world champion, like most of his rivals, is out of contract after next season with a major shakeup of the sport scheduled for 2021. He recognised at the Brazilian Grand Prix, however, that he was "kind of joined at the hip" with Mercedes after seven years together.
Lewis Hamilton: F1's mercurial boy from nowhere cements place among giants
Lewis Hamilton cemented his position as one of Formula One's true greats when he captured his sixth world title, a staggering achievement described as "not bad for a boy from a council house." His second-place finish at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday took him past the five titles of Juan-Manuel Fangio - who he describes as "The Godfather" - and to within one of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher.

It was the first time any team had finished first and second at the race since it first featured in 2008.
Hamilton hopeful for Italian GP after staying with Leclerc in practice
Lewis Hamilton admitted he was surprised at staying on Charles Leclerc's tail in Friday's rain-hit free practice for the Italian Grand Prix after the Formula One champion finished just 0.068 seconds behind his Ferrari rival. "It's not a massive amount different to how it was at the last race," said Hamilton.

Vettel says he is his own biggest critic
If Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel is feeling the pressure ahead of his home German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, then he knows who to blame. That, the four times Formula One world champion recognised on Thursday, is because he has always been his own harshest critic. "If I get something wrong and do a mistake, I can’t be happy with that," the 32-year-old said ahead of Sunday's race at Hockenheim. "The pressure I put on myself after that is bigger than any external factors.

Can F1 teammates be real mates? Why not, say McLaren drivers
Can teammates be good mates in Formula One? McLaren rookie Lando Norris and Spaniard Carlos Sainz see no reason why not – even if others have their doubts about how long that will last once the stakes are raised. History suggests that when drivers are fighting for race wins and championships, and enjoy equal status in the same competitive cars, then real friendship is often the first casualty.
