Chelsey Stone’s Biography

I'm a freelance writer and editor based in Arlington, Virginia (just outside of D.C.). My work explores travel, books, running, health and fitness, and the ways people connect with places through stories, landscapes, and local culture. I'm particularly interested in literary travel, active travel, public transportation, urban exploration, and creative ways of experiencing destinations beyond the typical tourist itinerary.

My writing has appeared in National Geographic, Outside, Runner's World, Northern Virginia Magazine, Road Trips for Families, and other publications. I regularly report on travel, outdoor recreation, wellness, and community-focused stories.

In addition to writing, I edit nonfiction (memoir, travel guidebooks) and fiction books for publishers. I also lead book- and running-themed tours through my Read & Run on the Road events, which combine literature, local history, and movement to help participants experience places in new ways. I also manage the D.C. team and events for City Fit Tours.

I'm especially interested in stories about literary destinations, local travel, running culture, public spaces, active transportation, outdoor recreation, and the people and communities that make places unique.
