Interview

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

The best pitches are tailored, concise, and clearly explain why a story is a good fit for my interests and the publications I write for. I’m especially interested in stories related to travel, active and outdoor recreation, running culture, literary tourism, books, public spaces, local history, and community-focused experiences. I’m often drawn to stories that help people experience a destination in a deeper or unexpected way. When pitching, please include relevant details, potential interview subjects, and why the story matters now. I appreciate a short email that gets to the point and makes a clear case for why the idea is timely and distinctive.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I'm most proud of my piece about traveling along the Chicago River for National Geographic.

What's your favorite drink?

I love a blood orange kombucha.
