Differential proteomic analysis of lung tissues in rats with high-altitude pulmonary edema and screening of potential biomarkers
Abstract Introduction: High-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) is a severe complication of rapid exposure to high-altitude hypoxia, but its molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. This study aimed to characterize lung proteomic alterations in HAPE and identify candidate proteins associated with its pathophysiological processes. Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomly allocated to control and HAPE model groups (n = 20/group).
Visibilizing invisible engagement behind students’ no-revision operation to written feedback
Student engagement with written feedback (WF) in English as a second language (ESL) / English as a foreign language (EFL) learning has been widely researched from cognitive, affective, and behavioural dimensions. Students’ textual change is taken as the only indication of their behavioural engagement with feedback. Students’ no-revision operation or their unaction is usually considered as their disengagement or lack of engagement, or excluded from the examination of students’ WF engagement.
XunZi, an AI biologist, reveals disease-modifying targets
Abstract Hypothesis generation in biomedicine is constrained by human cognitive limitations in synthesizing insights from fragmented biomedical knowledge and multimodal data sources. Here we introduce XunZi, an AI biologist that integrates logical reasoning and multimodal data fusion to autonomously generate de novo therapeutic target hypotheses with testable mechanisms.
SLIRP maintains energy metabolism homeostasis in colorectal cancer by stabilizing mitochondrial-encoded mRNAs
Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a highly vascularised tumour often characterised by elevated oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) activity, positioning OXPHOS as a potential metabolic vulnerability for targeted therapy. SLIRP is an RNA-binding protein involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of mitochondrial gene expression. However, its specific function and underlying mechanism in CRC remain poorly understood.

Microbial signaling and pest control in a medicinal plant: insights into insect, fungus, plant interactions
Abstract Tri-trophic interactions are dynamic relationships between plants, herbivores, and natural enemies and such interactions play important roles in agricultural ecosystems with regard to crop health, such as in the case of Aloe vera crops. A. vera is an agriculturally and medicinally important plant, known for its medicinal value and resilience in arid conditions.

4f-modified Ru-O polarity as a descriptor for efficient electrocatalytic acidic oxygen evolution - Nature Communications
Abstract The development of non-iridium-based oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts is crucial for proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE), but hydrogen production remains a great challenge because of sluggish OER kinetics and severe catalyst dissolution. Here, we present a 4f-induced covalent polarity modulation strategy for the construction of 4f-orbital-modified RuO2 (4f-RuO2) nanocatalysts with tunable Ru–O polarity.
Metachronous multicentric giant cell tumor of bone treated with denosumab and mega-prosthesis revision: a rare case report
Introduction Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is a benign but locally aggressive primary bone neoplasm, accounting for 4–5% of all primary bone tumors. It most commonly occurs in the third to fifth decades of life and affects both males and females, with a slight female predominance (1, 2). Multicentric giant cell tumor of bone is rare, representing less than 1% of all GCTB cases, and typically presents as multiple synchronous or metachronous lesions in different bones (3–5).

Reducing the Risk of Developing Diabetes: The Role of Angiotensin Receptor Blockers and Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors in Patients With Hypertension Combined Prediabetes
1 Introduction The International Diabetes Association estimates that diabetes causes 6.7 million deaths per year and that 643 million people worldwide will have diabetes by 2030, placing a heavy burden on global public health and socio-economic development [1, 2]. High blood pressure will affect the secretion of insulin, which is a factor in inducing or developing diabetes, and people with hypertension in pre-diabetes are more likely to develop diabetes in a short time [3-5].

The neurotrophic factor artemin and its receptor GFRα3 mediate migraine-like pain via the ion channel TRPM8
Abstract Background: Migraine has a strong genetic foundation, including both monogenic and polygenic types. The former are rare, with most migraine considered polygenic, supported by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) identifying numerous genetic variants associated with migraine risk. Surprisingly, some of the most common mutations are associated with TRPM8, a non-selective cation channel that is the primary sensor of cold temperatures in primary afferent neurons of the somatosensory system.

Lithium Metal Based Battery Systems Beyond 500 Wh kg-1
Lithium Metal Based Battery Systems Beyond 500 Wh kg-1 As industries and consumption patterns evolve, new electrical appliances are increasingly playing critical roles in national production, defense, and cognitive exploration. However, the slow development of energy storage devices with ultra-high energy density (beyond 500 Wh kg-1) has impeded the promotion and widespread application of the next generation of intelligent, multi-scenario electrical equipment.
In situ tuning of platinum 5d valence states for four-electron oxygen reduction - Nature Communications
Abstract The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalyzed by efficient and economical catalysts is critical for sustainable energy devices. Although the newly-emerging atomically dispersed platinum catalysts are highly attractive for maximizing atomic utilization, their catalytic selectivity and durability are severely limited by the inflexible valence transformation between Pt and supports.

In situ modulating coordination fields of single-atom cobalt catalyst for enhanced oxygen reduction reaction - Nature Communications
Abstract Single-atom catalysts, especially those with metal−N4 moieties, hold great promise for facilitating the oxygen reduction reaction. However, the symmetrical distribution of electrons within the metal−N4 moiety results in unsatisfactory adsorption strength of intermediates, thereby limiting their performance improvements.
A quick and effective method for thermostability differentiation in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
1 INTRODUCTION Among the main abiotic stresses, high temperature limits the yield and quality of agricultural plants, including cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) (Gong et al., 2020; Saini et al., 2022). Cucumber, a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, is an important vegetable cultivated worldwide. It prefers warm temperatures, but when the temperature surpasses 35°C, the growth of cucumbers is impeded (Woycicki et al., 2011; Chen et al., 2021).

The Transcription Factors WRKY41 and WRKY53 Mediate Early Flowering Induced by the Novel Plant Growth Regulator Guvermectin in Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : Flowering is a crucial stage for plant reproductive success; therefore, the regulation of plant flowering has been widely researched. Although multiple well-defined endogenous and exogenous flowering regulators have been reported, new ones are constantly being discovered. Here, we confirm that a novel plant growth regulator guvermectin (GV) induces early flowering in Arabidopsis.

Endogenous inflammatory mediators produced by injury activate TRPV1 and TRPA1 nociceptors to induce sexually dimorphic cold pain that is dependent on TRPM8 and GFRalpha3
Abstract The detection of environmental temperatures is critical for survival, yet inappropriate responses to thermal stimuli can have a negative impact on overall health. The physiological effect of cold is distinct among somatosensory modalities in that it is soothing and analgesic, but also agonizing in the context of tissue damage.
