Introduction Ever since humans started to migrate, there have been recurrence of pandemics, and it has become a regular part rather than an oddity of human history.1 In December, 2019, Dr. Li Wenliang, a Wuhan-based ophthalmologist, noticed an outbreak of new influenza infections locally. Different from the already known types of influenza viruses, this new type of influenza virus attacks the respiratory tract to as far as the lung alveoli, where gas exchange takes place.
