During recent federal immigration enforcement efforts in Maine, at least 25 percent of kids were absent from school in South Portland, the mayor said Thursday.Mayor Elyse Tipton said that over the 10 days of ICE agents conducting efforts in Maine, 25 to 30 percent of students across the district were absent on any given day.She said that was due to fear that, regardless of legal status, ICE agents might try to arrest them."That is truly a significant amount.
