DUBOIS — Managing a team that reached the second round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs a year ago, a team that returns its top two players, means that a regular-season conference title isn’t necessarily the goal you set for yourself. At least that is the way Redbank Valley manager Dave Hepler reacted after his team beat Clarion for the second time this season and for the first time in conference play, 7-2, last Thursday at Stern Field in DuBois.

NEW BETHLEHEM — Redbank Valley head coach Jake Dougherty tried to keep his team’s season in perspective after the Bulldogs lost 50-26 to Jefferson-Morgan in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A boys’ basketball playoffs on Saturday afternoon in New Bethlehem. “At the end of the day, we are back-to-back-to-back three-time district champions,” Dougherty said. “Our guys, that’s our goal. We are not going to go win states. You know what I mean? Kids aren’t dumb. They are very well aware of that.
