I am thinking of that line from the big hit from the band Chicago. Saturday in the park, I think it was the Fourth of July. Tomorrow in Lowell Park downtown Stillwater there will be people talking, people laughing and a man selling ice cream. There will be people dancing, really smiling and a man playing guitar. It will be a real celebration. I am excited about our 250th birthday bash for America.

The hottest and most humid day of this current heat wave is behind us, with the heat index making it feel like well over 100 degrees Monday. And while that swampy, thick air is mostly behind us, WCCO-TV Chief Meteorologist Chris Shaffer tells Vineeta Sawkar on the Morning News that it's still going to be warm Tuesday, and the rest of this week. The National Weather Service is still issuing a warning for the Twin Cities and southeastern Minnesota.

It is summer in two of the three phases. It “unofficially” started with Memorial Day Weekend a few weeks back. Meteorological Summer starts every year on June first. And the Summer Solstice is still a few weeks away. It has felt like summer with our heat. And summer is when Stillwater comes to life. First off, congratulations to all students, teachers and staff members that wrapped up the 2025-2026 school year.
