Chris A. Smith is an award-winning San Francisco journalist and writer who has reported from war zones and medieval desert cities, profiled big-city mayors and squatter punks, and written deep dives into everything from political messaging to asteroid strikes to African acid rock. He has a BA in English from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MJ in Journalism from UC Berkeley, and for a decade he taught nonfiction writing and politics courses at the Art Institute of California-SF. Personally prepared by Chef Mikel. It’s the only item on the menu and, let’s face it, we have it coming. Purposefully “insufferable” and revelling in the word, we’re simultaneously the best and the worst winners around.

I miss Jordan Henderson

I’ve been thinking a lot about Hendo lately. In a mortifying season of football brazenly goading us, Henderson’s career renaissance at Brentford is something I’ve kind of enjoyed in isolation. Look at him there! Barking orders at teammates again, making his team tick, triggering the press, charging around with mouth agape! I didn’t realise how much I’d missed seeing all that.
