FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Elijah Knudsen isn't supposed to be here. "It kind of frustrates me, to be honest," Knudsen said. He seemed destined for basketball stardom. He helped lead Mead to a state championship in 2021 and was the 4A state player of the year. He then went on to play collegiately at Colorado Mesa and Nebraksa Kearney, but after three seasons, he decided to move on from the hardwood. "That was hard," Knudsen said of his decision to quit basketball.

LOVELAND, Colo. — Collin Klein's football journey didn't start on the gridiron. It started on the hardwood. “He was in AAU, played for Dave Matthews - Colorado Chaos,” his dad, Doug, remembered. More specifically, Klein’s football career started with a conversation with his dad on a plane after a basketball tournament in Houston. “I think he had probably just finished his ninth-grade year,” Doug said.

Aaron Gordon on injury and the mind-body connection behind his absence

DENVER — For the second time this season, Mr. Nugget, as he's affectionately known, is missing at least a month with another hamstring injury. In all, Gordon's missed about half of Denver's games, dating back to last season, with soft tissue injuries. Last year, it was a calf injury that plagued him for most of the season. In his mind, it all comes back to the unexpected death of his older brother in May of 2024.
