This year New York Times critics have reviewed video games including Resident Evil Requiem, the latest instalment in the horror franchise; 007 First Light, a James Bond adventure; and Zero Parades, a spy role-playing game by the creators of Disco Elysium. Here are a few other games that have stood out: Mewgenics (Reviewed on the PC.) After the death of Laszlo, my family’s lovable, moody, biting cat, I began playing feline-inspired games.

The reasons for this are obscure, which will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the output of Tarsier Studios, the Swedish developer of the first two Little Nightmares games. It has a taste for dream logic and for making abstract, modern-day fairy tales about children in perilous circumstances.

A few hours into MIO: Memories In Orbit, I wanted to bail. I didn’t think I had it in me to go on struggling with this deceptively cute and extremely challenging Metroidvania about a little robot in a labyrinthine spaceship. Gnarly platforming gantlets? Check. Tanky bosses? Check. Permanent health loss? Yep. Oh, the vile things I muttered as I repeatedly failed to cross toxic, touch-it-you-die “gloomwater” simply to reach a boss. More than 40 hours later, I am dazed by the trials I’ve overcome.

The Berlin Apartment is a game about different kinds of people whose lives are buffeted by the political forces of their times. ABSTRACT Undergraduate (n = 32), graduate (n = 33), and veterinary students (n = 6) visited a virtual reality (VR) tour of a swine (n = 29) or dairy (n = 42) farm. Each tour featured a 360-degree video with voiceover and a self-guided exploration of farm basics and animal welfare challenges. The self-guided VR tour provided interactive hotspots for information. Students completed surveys pre- and post-tours, using a Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).

The Game Designer Playing Through His Own Psyche
A little more than a decade ago, the video-game designer Davey Wreden experienced a crippling success. In October, 2013, he and a collaborator, William Pugh, released the Stanley Parable HD, a polished and expanded version of a prototype that Wreden had developed in college, and which he had made available, free of charge, two years before. Wreden and Pugh hoped that they might sell fifty thousand or so copies of the new version in the course of its lifetime. They sold that many on the first day.

Sunday's PrepRedzoneAR Showcase Camp held over 180 prospects, including some from Mississippi, Minnesota, and Tennessee. North Alabama meat cutters prep for ice-cold competition
(WHNT) — Next week, nearly 20 of Alabama’s top meat cutters will hit the ice rink to show off their amazing knife work and hopefully take those skills to the National Meat Cutter Challenge. The competitors in next week’s qualifying competition will receive 30-40 pounds of beef each. That will include one sirloin, one filet and one rib-eye to cut. As far as judging goes, judges will look at quality, yield and speed in the timed competition.
