25,000 people are set to benefit from the Bakat Madani initiative over the next year, from mid-2026 through 2027, after its launch in Seremban on 29 June by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The programme brings together government-linked investment companies (GLICs), government-linked companies (GLCs), and Petronas to strengthen skills training, create jobs, and improve social mobility.

Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit Offers Up To RM50,000 In Business Grants

The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) opened applications for its Uyarvu Madani Grant Programme on 29 June 2026, offering grants of up to RM50,000 to help Indian entrepreneurs expand their existing businesses. Only 700 entrepreneurs nationwide will be selected, and applications close on 13 July. To apply, you need to be a Malaysian of Indian descent in the B40 or M40 income category, aged between 21 and 55, and not declared bankrupt.

Bank Negara's Semak Kasih Portal Traces Unclaimed Insurance

A new portal called Semak Kasih now lets you check for unclaimed insurance and takaful, for free. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) launched it on 26 June 2026. The portal aims to address a longstanding issue. According to industry estimates, around 50,000 life insurance policies and family takaful certificates with death benefits remain unclaimed. Semak Kasih pulls together 25 participating insurance and takaful companies, so you search one platform instead of contacting each insureryourself.
