They're electric. They're for rent, at $1 plus 15 cents a mile. And they are available now in downtown Grand Rapids. About 300 electric scooters are parked around downtown Grand Rapids as part of a pilot project designed to improve transportation using environmentally friendly options.

Republican nominees for Kalamazoo County sheriff close as ballots continue to be counted

The Republican nominee for Kalamazoo County sheriff remains undecided late Tuesday, as county elections officials continue counting ballots. As of 11:45 p. m. , Aug. 4, 2020, with 85 of 107 precincts reporting, Former Kalamazoo police Capt. Shannon Bagley had 5,030 votes and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Swafford had 3,845 votes.
