911 dispatchers praised for quick reaction during MSU shooting

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Local, state and federal first responders are being praised for their quick response during a mass shooting on the campus of Michigan State University Monday night. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Michigan and other leaders visited the MSU campus Friday and commended area first responders who handled a flood of calls for help. "I know we all were listening to that scanner and just wondering how they were managing just the hundreds of calls that were coming in," Slotkin said.

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The 43-year-old gunman who opened fire killing three Michigan State University students legally purchased two firearms used in the shooting spree, police said Thursday. Anthony McRae, 43, shot and killed himself following an hours-long manhunt Monday. Police found two 9mm handguns in his possession, along with eight loaded magazines and a pouch with 50 rounds of loose ammunition, and two empty magazines in his backpack, according to detectives.
