Abstract Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, which affects 0.2–2% of pregnancies, is characterized by pruritus, increased aminotransferase activity and elevated serum bile acids. Previous studies have implicated liver-enriched genes in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.

Abstract To elaborate on the origins of the established male-female differences in several brain-related phenotypes, we assessed the patterns of transcriptomic sex biases in the developing and adult human forebrain. We find an abundance of sex differences in expression (sex-DE) in the prenatal brain, driven by both hormonal and sex-chromosomal factors, and considerable consistency in the sex effects between the developing and adult brain, with little sex-DE exclusive to the adult forebrain.

The details about the data sets used in this study and the methods we used in each part of the analyses are elaborated in the following sections. When comparing data from different groups, either t-test or Wilcoxon rank-sum test were used according to the normality of the data. The paired versions of the tests were used when comparing paired data coming from the same individual cell lines.
