Crosby has three points, Penguins drill Flyers
PITTSBURGH — Sidney Crosby and Dominik Simon scored during an early four-goal outburst, and the Pittsburgh Penguins drilled the Philadelphia Flyers 7-1 on Tuesday night. Crosby, wearing a facemask as extra protection after getting hit in the head by a shot over the weekend, added two assists to boost his career point total against the Flyers to 102 as the Penguins rolled to a rare lopsided victory over their cross-state rivals.
Claude Giroux made this absurd stick handling drill look easy
Claude Giroux is one player that always seems to be overlooked. He put 102 points last season (Second in the league) and wasn’t even considered for the Hart trophy. Not only that, but he was stuck with an 89 rating in NHL 19, which fans weren’t very happy with. If you don’t think he’s underrated, just watch the following drill and you’ll know how ridiculous his skills really are. Shoutout to Mike Johnson, one of the best analysts in the game feeding those pucks to Giroux.
Letter to the Editor: Harts Four Corners a shining example of professional cooperation
Claude A. Giroux The work at Harts Four Corners is an example in cooperation.Recently there have been news articles on the dramatic changes taking place at Hart's Four Corners here in Taunton. These changes took time to unfold. They are the result of efforts by a wide variety of people and groups. The efforts of landowners, surveyors, engineers, contractors, state employees, city officials and workers and other professionals pitched in to make this happen.
Claude Giroux called out those doubting the Flyers after their Game 2 win over Pittsburgh
The Philadelphia Flyers leveled their state series against the defending Stanley Cups champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night. Philly bounced back with a convincing 5-1 win over the Pens in Game 2 after getting throttled 7-0 in the series opener. Head coach Dave Hakstol took heat from the media and Flyers fans by giving goaltender Brian Elliott another start after he let in five goals on 19 shots on Wednesday night.
Flyers beat Rangers to clinch playoff berth; eliminate Panthers
PHILADELPHIA — Claude Giroux earned his first career hat trick in the regular season and the Philadelphia Flyers clinched a playoff berth in their final regular-season game with a 5-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday. Giroux finished with 34 goals and 102 points. He extended his career highs in points and goals while becoming the sixth player in franchise history to reach 100 points in a season.
Giroux belongs in Hart Trophy discussion
Much of the debate around this year’s Hart Trophy race has been about whether an elite player on a non-playoff team is worthy of consideration. That’s understandable this year. Connor McDavid – for my money the NHL’s most talented player in 2017-18 – has had an amazing year on a woeful team. Nathan MacKinnon and Taylor Hall, who are having comparatively strong seasons, play for teams that are right near the playoff cutline.
Giroux's OT goal lifts Flyers over Bruins
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Claude Giroux scored his second goal with 1:21 left in overtime and the Philadelphia Flyers recovered from blowing a late lead, beating the Boston Bruins 4-3 Sunday to inch closer to returning to the playoffs after a year absence. Travis Konecny added a dazzling goal and an assist, Nolan Patrick also scored and Petr Mrazek made 36 saves for the Flyers.
