Setting up Snort to monitor your SOC Lab
Snort is a open source Intrusion Prevention system (IPS) and Intrusion Detection System (IDS ) that uses rules to detect any malicious network activity, it then uses those packets to match against the rules and generates a alert. It has three primary uses a packet sniffer, a packet logger, or it can be used as a full Intrusion prevention system. I will be using snort in my home lab to send alerts to Wazuh.
