When the cops are called in Calcasieu Parish, there is now a chance that a drone will be the first on the scene, providing an aerial perspective for the sheriff’s office. On Thursday, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory announced in a news release that the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Drone as First Responder Program is now installed.

Road closures scheduled for Westlake in association with I-10 bridge project

With construction officially underway on the Interstate-10 Calcasieu River Bridge project, there will soon be short- and long-term road closures. On Thursday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced in a news release that there will be upcoming road closures in Westlake for the relocation of sections of pipe rack from Phillips 66 in association with the I-10 bridge project, known for its pistol decor.

City of Lake Charles launches new website, app to help residents access resources

The city of Lake Charles has redesigned its digital presence to make it easier for residents to find and use resources. On May 27, the city launched a new website, cityoflakecharles.com, and its first app, ONELC Action Line, that cost nearly $100,000 to create with its partner, CivicPlus.
