Amniotic fluid stem cells alleviate neuronal injury-related changes in spina bifida by inducing autophagy via regulating the FOXO1/STAT3 axis
Abstract Spina bifida (SB) is associated with progressive spinal cord injury and limited therapeutic options for neural protection. Amniotic fluid stem cells (AFSCs) have shown regenerative potential, but their effects on SB-related neuronal injury and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we investigated whether AFSCs alleviate neuronal injury-related changes in SB rats through the modulation of autophagy via the FOXO1/STAT3 pathway.

Work engagement and associated factors of nurses: a structural equation model
Abstract Objective: To assess the associated factors of work engagement among nurses in tertiary hospitals. Background: In recent years, the demands for nursing professional skills and quality have gradually increased. Nurses are required to master continuously updated medical knowledge while facing high-intensity work, which may lead to occupational burnout and turnover. Work engagement reflects nursing quality and work enthusiasm and is an important predictor of nurse turnover.
Anisotropic Cellular Forces Drive Hexagonal-to-Tetragonal Tiling Transitions in the Drosophila Eye
1 Introduction Regular epithelial tiling patterns are a fundamental feature of multicellular tissue organization and are widely observed across animal development. Among these, hexagonal packing is particularly prevalent, as its mechanically stable geometry confers efficient space filling and robustness of the tissue against external perturbations (Honda 1978; Farhadifar et al. 2007; Lecuit and Lenne 2007; Weaire and Phelan 1994).
Therapeutic Potential of Irpex lacteus Polysaccharides in Lupus Nephritis: Insights From Gut Microbiota and Metabolomics Analysis in MRL/Lpr Mice
1 Introduction Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by multi-system involvement. Its core pathological mechanism involves the abnormal activation of autoreactive B cells and the overproduction of pathogenic autoantibodies, such as antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and anti-double-stranded DNA antibodies (anti-dsDNA) (Alforaih et al. 2022).
High-throughput growth of organic scintillating single crystal fibers for neutron/gamma pulse shape discrimination The organic scintillation single crystals grown by conventional methods typically exhibit their intrinsic crystal habits and lack machinability to be processed into suitable forms to match different application scenarios. Here a mold-embedded growth (MEG) method is reported for batch growth of organic scintillating single crystal fibers (SCFs).
An Enabling Peptide Ligation Induced by Thiol‐Salicylaldehyde Ester for Chemical Protein Synthesis
1 Introduction Over the past few decades, peptide ligation chemistry has been dramatically developed and offered new opportunities for preparing proteins not accessible by expression or other bioengineering methods, such as proteins with site-specifically post-translational modifications, proteins with unnatural amino acids, and mirror-image proteins.[1] Chemical protein synthesis makes possible further exploration of life science and medical territory beyond traditionally recombinant...

Simultaneous vibrational resonance in the amplitude and phase quadratures of an optical field based on Kerr nonlinearity
Vibrational resonance (VR) is a nonlinear phenomenon in which the system response to a weak signal can be resonantly enhanced by applying a high-frequency modulation signal with an appropriate amplitude. The majority of VR research has focused on amplifying the amplitude or intensity of the system response to a weak signal, whereas the study of the phase information of system responses in VR remains limited.

Weak-force amplification in a cavity-optomechanical system based on the vibrational-resonance mechanism
Vibrational resonance is an interesting nonlinear phenomenon that has great potential in controllable weak signal enhancement. In this work we theoretically explore the possibility of amplifying a weak mechanical force via a vibrational-resonance mechanism in a cavity-optomechanical system. The results show that the weak force applied to the movable mirror can be dramatically amplified by adding a high-frequency mechanical force.

Nonlinear optical properties in chiral copper oxide nanosheets
Chiral transition metal oxides (TMOs) are in the forefront of research as potential active materials in various optoelectronic applications. However, the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the chiral TMOs have not been fully understood. Here, several kinds of copper oxide nanosheets capped with different chiral amino acids are synthesized.
Endotoxin induced acute kidney injury modulates expression of AQP1, P53 and P21 in rat kidney, heart, lung and small intestine
PLOS ONE, Jul 2023 This study was designed to explore whether aquaporin 1(AQP1), P53 and P21 can be used as diagnostic biomarkers of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and potential indicators of sepsis-induced multiple organ injury. Bioinformatics results demonstrated that AQP1, P53, P21 was dramatically elevated 6h after Cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-AKI in rat renal tissue.

Missed Nursing Care as a Mediator in the Relationship between Career Calling and Turnover Intention
Aim To explore the role of missed nursing care in mediating the relationship between career calling and intention to leave among nurses. Introduction Increasing nurse turnover is still a major concern in the global healthcare system. The most reliable indicator of turnover is turnover intention. It is crucial to understand its affecting elements to suggest measures to lower nurses’ turnover intention. Background Turnover intention has been linked to career calling and missed nursing care.

The energy storage behavior of a phosphate-based cathode material in rechargeable zinc batteries
The energy storage behavior of a phosphate-based cathode material in rechargeable zinc batteries† The energy storage behavior of the Li3V2(PO4)3 cathode in zinc batteries is evaluated. The dissolution or decomposition into vanadium oxide in aqueous electrolytes is revealed. Using the optimal combination of water and acetonitrile solvents in electrolyte, those processes are effectively prevented without sacrificing the Zn2+ de/insertion kinetics.

Searching high efficiency and environmentally benign leaching reagent for ion-adsorption rare earth based on the zeta potential of clay particles
To overcome the serious water pollution and landslides that occur in response to in situ ion-adsorption rare earth (IARE) leaching, it is essential to identify highly efficient and environmentally benign leaching reagents. Therefore, the leaching efficiency (LE) of IARE by different inorganic electrolytes at different concentrations was compared, and the landslide and ion releasing performance of tailings driven by water rinsing were evaluated based on the zeta potential of clay particles (CPs).
