Train derailment leads to shelter-in-place order in Kentucky

TRENTON, Kentucky (WTVF) -- A shelter-in-place order has been issued after a train derailment Tuesday morning in Trenton. According to CSX, just after 6 a.m. central a train derailed 31 rail cars near Trenton Tress Shop Road and Dixie Bee Line Highway in Trenton, Kentucky. No injuries were reported. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. As a precaution, Todd County issued a half-mile shelter-in-place order around the impacted site.

TRENTON, Ky. (WTVF) - A shelter-in-place order has been issued after a train derailment Tuesday morning in Trenton. Todd County Emergency Management told WEKT at least 20 train cars derailed and are blocking State Route 475 at Tress Shop Road. Anyone within a half mile of the derailment should turn off their HVAC system, according to Todd County EMA. The Todd County Sheriff's Department says residents impacted by the derailment can seek shelter at the Bingo Barn in Guthrie.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) - Tennessee State Representative Jeff Burkhart has died. The Republican lawmaker reportedly died on Thursday. Burkhart represented District 75 which covered parts of Montgomery County. Rep. Burkhart was 63. Condolences have come in Friday morning from both sides of the aisle: State Rep. Jeff Burkhart was a good friend who always showed up to help others. He loved representing Montgomery County and was fully dedicated to improving the lives of those he represented.
