Abstract To compare perioperative molecular responses and safety of preoperative faricimab versus aflibercept in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) undergoing pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), and to determine whether dual Ang-2/VEGF-A inhibition induces distinct intraocular molecular remodeling. This prospective, randomized comparative study included forty treatment-naïve PDR patients undergoing PPV and 10 age- and sex-matched cataract controls.
Functional specialization and dynamical interaction in human amygdala subregions support fearful-expression processing
Abstract Fearful-expression processing supports adaptive responses to potential threats, requiring both rapid threat evaluation and face-related information processing. However, how human amygdala subregions contribute to these complementary processes remains unclear. Here we record intracranial electroencephalography from twelve patients with epilepsy during an emotional face-matching task, sampling 58 amygdala contacts with balanced hemispheric distributions.

Granzyme B-based CAR-T cells targeting membrane-bound HSP70 suppress solid tumor growth and metastasis
Abstract Utilizing CAR-T cells to eliminate circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and inhibit metastasis is a promising strategy. However, this approach is hindered by the lack of specific antigens. Membrane-bound HSP70 (mHSP70) is commonly expressed on the cell membrane of numerous tumor types, notably on CTCs, making it an ideal target for CAR-T therapy to treat these malignancies and prevent metastasis. Here, we generated CAR T cells based on natural ligand granzyme B (GrB-CAR T) targeting mHSP70.

ISGylation prevents autophagic degradation of STING and promotes antitumor immunity in lung cancer - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract The STING pathway plays a central role in immune activation; however, STING protein levels decline during the progression of various cancers, including lung cancer, thereby limiting the efficacy of immunotherapies. Our study uncovers a previously unrecognized mechanism whereby ISGylation stabilizes STING by preventing its autophagic degradation, thereby enhancing its immunostimulatory function.

A case report: enhanced somatostatin receptor expression in metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor following everolimus therapy
1 Background Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) are rare, and highly heterogeneous solid tumors that originate from the endocrine cells of the pancreas. They are characterized by the ability to secrete various hormones or neuropeptides, and account for approximately 1%–2% of all pancreatic neoplasms (Sonbol et al., 2022). With the ongoing advances in molecular imaging, laboratory diagnostics, and clinical awareness, the detection rates of pNETs have increased in recent years.
