Muskie Days in Nevis is about to celebrate its 75th year, and commemorative buttons have been produced each year since the sixth celebration Dick Casassa has them all. The Nevis resident will soon attend his 55th Muskie Days celebration, and has been in love with the event since the first time he stopped by. “Back in 1972, my mother- and father-in-law brought us up here to go fishing,” Casassa said. “While we were here, we went to Muskie Days.

Aukes takes clash over Akeley policing to county board

Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes told the county board that his policy to stop sheriff’s deputies from responding to non-emergencies in Akeley dates back to 2021, but allegations of it being a political decision have not been put to rest. Akeley Police Chief Jimmy Hansen is a candidate for Hubbard County sheriff, while Aukes has endorsed sheriff’s deputy Tony Petrie for the position.
