Peter John Haley, 77, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in his home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, with his wife and son by his side, after a long, brave battle with cancer. Peter was born in Watertown, N.Y., the son of John and Nora Haley. Peter graduated from Immaculate Heart Central High School, following which he matriculated at the University of Notre Dame.

West Suburban Medical Center’s entire Oak Park campus was closed Thursday by Oak Park building officials as the final functioning elevator in the complex failed. Firefighters were called to carry dialysis patients down from the hospital’s fifth floor when the elevator stopped operating.
