Showers and storms return to Acadiana

The ridge of high pressure that has dominated the region for the better part of a week will finally start to slide north on Wednesday, opening up the door for showers and storms in the afternoon. Acadiana will get a quiet morning with no problems out for the morning commute, but as we get closer to lunch we'll start seeing the clouds gather. Widely scattered showers and storms will rumble through the area this afternoon producing a few hefty downpours.

Hot and humid today with showers returning tomorrow

After a dry stretch of days we'll see the ridge of high pressure start to break down and slide north slightly. While it won't be much movement it will be just enough to sneak some showers into the area starting Wednesday afternoon. In the meantime it's mostly dry again today with highs returning to similar levels as Monday. A wide scattering of showers will swing through the region after lunch on Wednesday and will continue into the early evening.

Dusty start to the work week but showers return by Wednesday

The heat is on to start the week. A dominating ridge of high pressure is pushing the highs into the mid 90s with the heat index moving between 105 and 107 in the afternoon. Some Saharan dust is moving through today which means skies will be hazy to start the week, but we should at least get a vibrant sunset. The ridge will start to break down on Tuesday and by Wednesday we'll start seeing the return of showers and storms.
