State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, announced on Monday he would suspend his campaign for Michigan governor. The announcement came just a few hours after President Donald Trump announced on social media that he would endorse U.S. Rep. John James, R-Shelby Township, for the open seat being vacated by Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Nesbitt, who has lagged in recent polls, attributed his decision as necessary to align with Trump.
