Distinct genetic perturbations at the endogenous Atf4 locus uncouple polyadenylation loss from transcriptional readthrough
Abstract Transcription termination by RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) is coupled to co-transcriptional cleavage and polyadenylation directed by the canonical AAUAAA polyadenylation signal (PAS). However, the in vivo requirement of the canonical PAS for termination fidelity remains unclear. Here, we dissect PAS-dependent termination at the endogenous Atf4 locus using complementary mouse models.
Excitatory neuronal TIA1 in ventral hippocampal CA1 drives antidepressant-like effects via downregulation of Cacna2d1 signaling in mice
Abstract Stress is a known risk factor of major depressive disorder (MDD). T cell-restricted intracellular antigen 1 (TIA1) is an RNA-binding protein that regulates mRNA stability and translational repression. However, its roles in MDD remain largely unknown. Here, we found that TIA1 was mainly expressed in neurons and was significantly downregulated in the hippocampus of mice subjected to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) exposure.
Gender-specific associations between polygenic scores and age-specific risk of psychiatric disorders
Psychiatric disorders are complex conditions influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Research has consistently demonstrated their strong genetic basis, as evidenced by twin and family studies showing high heritability estimates for severe psychiatric disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD), schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar disorder (BIP), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
PCD-Net: prior-context collaborative learning for robust facial expression recognition under noisy labels
Abstract Noisy annotations and class imbalance commonly coexist in real-world facial expression recognition (FER), making hard but correctly labeled minority-class samples difficult to distinguish from unreliable training samples. Existing noisy FER approaches mainly improve robustness through sample selection or re-weighting, while the representation diversity used for collaborative denoising and the distinction between sample reliability and class difficulty remain insufficiently explored.
Negotiating Classroom Language Practices: Pre-Service Teacher Agency and L1/L2 Decision-Making in Exam-Oriented EFL Classrooms
1 Introduction Decisions about whether and how to use students’ first language alongside English remain contested in secondary EFL education (Cenoz and Gorter 2020; Wang and Ai 2024). English-dominant approaches emphasise sustained target-language exposure, while multilingual perspectives recognise learners’ full linguistic repertoires as resources for meaning-making and participation (García et al. 2017; Rajendram 2023).
Bap1-mediated deubiquitination determines immune tolerance and anti-tumor immunity via modulating eTreg cell differentiation and ferroptosis
Abstract Effector regulatory T (eTreg) cells are indispensable for maintaining peripheral immune tolerance and can also interfere with antitumor immunity. However, how epigenetic modifications regulate eTreg differentiation and peripheral maintenance remains largely unknown. Here, we identify the histone deubiquitinating enzyme Bap1 as a pivotal regulator of eTreg cell fate via its H2A deubiquitination activity.
Pseudo defect guided meta calibration for few shot industrial defect segmentation
Abstract Few-shot industrial defect segmentation aims to localize unseen defects from only a few defect-free reference images, but remains challenging because no positive anomaly examples are available and defects are often subtle, irregular, and embedded in complex textures. We propose PDMCNet, a Pseudo-Defect Guided Meta-Calibration Network for normal-reference few-shot industrial defect segmentation.
Neutrophil-derived IL-4 induces BDNF expression in microglia within the infarct cortex and surrounding regions following cerebral ischemia
Abstract Following cerebral ischemia, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expressed by Iba-1⁺ microglia may support neuronal survival and plasticity, yet the micro-environmental cues that drive this phenotype remain largely uncharacterized.
A circuit linking dentate gyrus and retrosplenial granular cortex regulates fracture healing in male mice
Abstract Traumatic brain injury often accelerates fracture repair, but the neural circuits linking brain state to bone healing remain unclear. Here we show that, in male mice, a hippocampal–cortical circuit linking the dentate gyrus (DG) and the retrosplenial granular cortex (RSGc) regulates repair after bone injury. Skeletal injury increased activity–associated labeling in both regions.
Deep learning–guided engineering of SpuFz1 and rational miniaturization of ωRNA enables efficient genome editing
Abstract Advancing the performance of programmable genome editing nucleases remains a key challenge in expanding their research and therapeutic applications. Here, we introduce a scalable deep learning–guided protein engineering framework for improving nuclease activity without requiring experimental training data.

Aversive memories can be weakened during human sleep via the reactivation of positive interfering memories
Abstract Recollecting painful or traumatic experiences can be deeply troubling. Sleep may offer an opportunity to reduce such suffering. Accordingly, we developed a procedure to weaken older aversive memories by reactivating newer positive memories during sleep, thereby producing interference. Participants viewed 48 nonsense words each paired a unique aversive image, followed by overnight sleep.

The Role of Socioeconomic Position in the Association Between Mental Disorders and Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Key Points Question Does the association between mental disorders and mortality vary by socioeconomic position (SEP)? Findings In this systematic review and meta-analysis of 71 observational studies, relative associations between mental disorders and mortality were similar across different SEP levels; however, there were lower relative mortality risks for natural causes but higher for external causes among individuals with mental disorders and of higher rather than lower SEP.
Phosphorylcholine-Functionalized PEDOT-Gated Organic Electrochemical Transistor Devices for Ultra-Specific and Sensitive C-Reactive Protein Detection
1. Introduction C-reactive protein (CRP) is a widely used biomarker for differentiating viral infections; it is a non-glycosylated protein with a molecular weight of approximately 115 kDa, composed of five identical spherical subunits non-covalently bound to each other [1]. These subunits form a circular structure known as pentraxin [2].
Enhanced rich club connectivity in mild or moderate depression after nonpharmacological treatment: A preliminary study
1 INTRODUCTION The human brain is a complex functional system of interconnected regions which is called the human connectome (Sporns et al., 2005). Once the functional connections of the system are damaged or abnormal, information processing and integration will be impaired and eventually lead to brain dysfunction (van den Heuvel et al., 2013).
Shared intentionality modulates interpersonal neural synchronization at the establishment of communication system - Communications Biology
Abstract Whether and how shared intentionality (SI) influences the establishment of a novel interpersonal communication system is poorly understood. To investigate this issue, we designed a coordinating symbolic communication game (CSCG) and applied behavioral, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)-based hyperscanning, and hyper-transcranial alternating current stimulation (hyper-tACS) methods. Here we show that SI is a strong contributor to communicative accuracy.
