Abstract Background: Key features of gastric cancer (GC) include its aggressive nature, high metastatic capability, and a tendency for relapse. While 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) remains a cornerstone of GC treatment, its efficacy is substantially undermined by the emergence of acquired drug resistance. Carnosic acid (CA) has antitumor and immunomodulatory potential, but its role in 5-FU-resistant GC remains unclear.

The understanding of vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) is of great importance as it provides data and theoretical support for applications in chemical and environmental engineering. Undergraduates in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering are expected to be capable of understanding, drawing and applying VLE phase diagrams. In this paper, we built theoretical models for VLE calculations and distillation column design for binary systems.
