President Donald Trump came to speak at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event at the Dream City Church in Phoenix on April 17 to gather support for the Republican Party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Thousands attended the rally, and the U.S. Secret Service provided security alongside local law enforcement from the Phoenix and Scottsdale police departments.

Following a Delta Tau Delta (DTD) initiation-related death in January, the fraternity’s pledge master, Carter Eslick, appeared in court via Zoom for arraignment on April 6. He pleaded not guilty to one charge of hazing, which is a class 4 felony. The arraignment came after weeks of investigation by the Flagstaff Police Department (FPD) and an independent review of evidence by the Coconino County Attorney’s Office. A Coconino County grand jury brought the indictment on March 27.

The U.S. Forest Service officially transferred ownership of Oak Flat, land in the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, to a private company for mining development on March 16 after years of legal battles and protests. Chi’chil Biłdagoteel, commonly known as the Oak Flat campground, is a 6.7-square-mile plot of land sacred to the San Carlos Apache Tribe and many other Native Americans.
