Unpaid - Staff Writer for the now defunct One Hit Pixel. Paid - Guides Writer for Rock, Paper, Shotgun
Have you ever used a typewriter?
In primary school, we took a trip to a museum. Slapped those keys for a good five minutes.
How is social media changing news?
Dramatically, and not always for good. I like to think I'm on the right side of journalism, but then I would, wouldn't I?
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Probably any one of the Ankh-Morpork Times staff.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means that I get to do what I actually want to do, rather than what society thought I should be doing. It's liberating, yet daunting.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I like those who come to me with a kick ass idea, a plan of what they want to do, and proof they can do it justice.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
PC, PS5, Switch for hardware. I can use Adobe suite, but these days it's the Google suite, a custom Wordpress, GIMP, and OBS for capture.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter - it's the only one I can properly have a moan on.

Why did you become a journalist?
I found that I enjoyed writing reviews, then enjoyed writing in general.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Sadly no. We didn't have one at our school.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read books. Good grammar helps if you do it early in your career.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Early evening
What's your favorite drink?
Pepsi Max. I bought a soda machine for the fizz and boxes of post-mix that are normally sold to pubs!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On a walk keeping an eye out for flying creatures, Pokémon, and flying type Pokémon! (Do also like a good pub lunch after a long walk)
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I still look briefly at Rock, Paper, Shotgun and Eurogamer from time to time. Actual newspaper is The Guardian.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I can't have dull days because I get paid to write about videogames. Trust me, it happens, and it's SEO's fault!
