Dave Irwin’s Biography

While I have been writing since 2011, writing for outlets like the now defunct One Hit Pixel and the thankfully still going TheSixthAxis, my career in journalism didn't really start until the end of 2018 when I began writing freelance. My first paid for published piece was on the sadly now gone Kotaku UK about videogame addiction and my experience with World of Warcraft. Two more freelance reviews were then commissioned for Tech Raptor before I landed the Guides Writer role at Rock, Paper, Shot…

What was your first job as a journalist?

Unpaid - Staff Writer for the now defunct One Hit Pixel. Paid - Guides Writer for Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Have you ever used a typewriter?

In primary school, we took a trip to a museum. Slapped those keys for a good five minutes.

How is social media changing news?

Dramatically, and not always for good. I like to think I'm on the right side of journalism, but then I would, wouldn't I?
