We’ve often noted that for a rise in the S&P 500 markets, reported in U.S. dollars, the result is not necessarily the same in other currencies. This chart tells us that. Since the start of 2024, the S&P 500 is up 45.4% (close is February 11, 2026). But that’s in U.S. dollars. The Japanese might be more elated as in Japanese yen the S&P 500 is up 58.3%. In Canadian dollars, the S&P 500 is up 49.5%. Both outpaced the rise in US dollars.
