Rock Ethics Institute names 2026 Stand Up Award winners

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's Rock Ethics Institute has announced the winners of the 2026 Stand Up Awards for Undergraduate Ethical Leadership: Kaelonnah Darlich, who is majoring in biology in the Eberly College of Science, intending to graduate in 2028; Christina Ellis, who is majoring in Spanish in the College of the Liberal Arts and integrative science in the Eberly College of Science. She will be graduating in May.

NYU bioethicist to present 'Artificial Intelligence and Moral Status' lecture

Matthew Liao, a leading scholar in bioethics and moral philosophy at New York University (NYU), will present a lecture titled “Artificial Intelligence and Moral Status” at 5 p.m. on April 16 in 062 Willard Building at Penn State University Park. The lecture is free and open to the public. Liao is the Arthur Zitrin Professor of Bioethics and director of the Center for Bioethics at NYU.

Sci-fi author Ted Chiang to give 2026 Richard B. Lippin Lecture in Ethics

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Acclaimed science-fiction author Ted Chiang will be delivering the Rock Ethics Institute’s 2026 Richard B. Lippin Lecture in Ethics at 6 p.m. on March 25. The lecture is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on March 25 in Freeman Auditorium in the HUB on Penn State’s University Park campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
